Our goals for our girls weekend were:
Pretty much in that order. Since relaxing isn’t exactly photographic, Ill give you the most interesting photographic evidence of a weekend in Asheville well spent – the food.
Asheville is known for being a little bit edgy with a whole lot of southern comfort food. We were not disappointed. Some of the restaurants photographed:
We also took the opportunity to take a ghost tour one evening, a two hour walk around the town that provided us some interesting history as well as gave us a better lay of the city. It was fun to hear about the spookier side of the city, and we definitely appreciated the weather. It was literally a dark and stormy night, with a very active thunderstorm that didn’t produce much rain. The only downside was that I left the top open in the Jeep in the parking lot, so we had some damp seats when we returned!
One of the buildings we saw on our tour was the Jackson Building, which I absolutely LOVE because it has Gargoyles yall! If you have read my posts about the Biltmore, you know how much I love gargoyles!
You can find pretty much anything while walking around downtown, but we particularly enjoyed chocolate stores, bookstores, and furniture stores. We even found the most adorable shop dogs in many of the establishments – the whole of the city is pretty dog friendly.
I also found this Allosaurus skull for sale in one of the shops – holy cow if I only had “Allosaurus skull money” in my budget! You know what a sucker I am for dinosaurs if you followed me on my tour of the Tellus Science Museum.
