My husband lived in the Keys during Middle School, and remembers the time fondly. They lived on Big Coppitt Key, which is several keys up from Key West, which means that it is not nearly as busy or touristy. On our visit, we absolutely had to return to his childhood favorite, Bobalu’s Southern Cafe.
We ordered the conch strips as an appetizer, and they were delicious. I definitely recommend getting an appetizer because the food is made fresh to order, and takes a little time to come out – which is totally fine because it is worth the wait!
For our meal, we ordered a meatbomb pizza. I was really hankering for some grilled shrimp and a rum bucket, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed!
We always try to visit a few “local” favorites when we travel, but this one will always rank in the top of my list for the delicious foods but also for the nostalgia!
